Outsiders Inn programs are staffed by people with shared, lived experience with housing insecurity, poverty, homelessness, substance use, criminal justice and mental health recovery. We bring our experiences to the table to establish trust, rapport and understanding. We believe that no one is better qualified than the folks who have gone through these issues and found a better quality of life and a different way to live and thrive.
The premise is that all participants are trauma survivors and that homelessness requires a recovery track, as well as the vast majority of our participants also have complex mental health, physical health and some with substance use concerns. Along with strength-based recovery we use a peer support approach.
